In order to access the LUN Presentation screen, please put the software into Maintenance Mode.

You are able to have formatted and unformatted LUN’s defined on the AMS200.  Formatted ones are Yellow, unformatted at Grey as you can see in the image below. It is useful to have ALL the disk allocated to a LUN – in one form or aonother, otherwise you may loose track of ‘unused space’.  The GUI is not clear at showing the difference between used and unused space.  Turning unused space into an unformatted LUN makes the GUI more obvious!

DO NOT format  LUN’s which are to be used as place holders, as the process is very CPU intensive and can take hours to complete! Typically the SAN will format a new LUN at 100Gb per hour – nearly 1 full day for a 2TB LUN.

In order to view formatting progress, you need to choose View, Refresh from the menu – the GUI does not update in real time.

Remember GREY LUN’s are unformatted place holders.
